Looking for an opportunity to work with a collaborative team at the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC)? The Division of Water Resources has a position in the Columbia Environmental Field Office (EFO) working in a diverse team environment with other EFO staff, as well as directly with our regulated community in a multi-county area. This position will be responsible for performing work primarily in the Subsurface Sewage Disposal System (SSDS) Program. An employee may perform a full range of environmental compliance activities with a focus on customer service and maintaining relationships with the regulated and construction communities.
The position fieldwork in rural areas, construction sites, and in all weather conditions, with frequent day travel. Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college/university in Engineering, Soil Science, Environmental Science, Biology, Physical Sciences, or other related environmental science fields. Preference may be given to candidates with an Environmental Science degree and/or professional environmental experience. Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications (MQs) for this position. Highlighted Responsibilities:
- Evaluate soil for the purpose of issuing SSDS permits.
- Conduct construction inspections of SSDS.
- Investigate complaints related to failing SSDS and stormwater construction sites.
