The Career Development Center is here to help as you determine your major while at Appalachian. Career Coaches are available to support students in the initial major exploration phase to learn more about academic programs, and lend guidance while students explore career options that may blend their interests. We also highly encourage students who are reconsidering a major or contemplating an additional minor or double-major to meet with a Career Coach to discuss options and create a personalized action plan.
Choosing a major can be a complex decision with many thoughts and feelings to consider. In an initial Major and Career Exploration appointment, you can discuss your interests and concerns while receiving support from a Career Coach to help you make an informed decision about your academic major and viable career pathways that meet your personal goals.
When choosing a major, it is important to reflect on your interests, skills and values, as they play a large role in the types of work or studies we may enjoy. A career assessment can sometimes be a helpful tool in this self-discovery process. To learn more about these tools available at the Career Development Center, visit our Assessments page and set a Major and Career Exploration appointment using Handshake.
